A finch population with heritable variation in beak size arrives on an island where only large seeds are available as a food source. describe the process of natural selection that would follow.

    Due to natural selection and heritability of fitness, birds and their offspring with heritable variations that remained on the island would quickly be reduced to only those which have a large enough beak size and are thus capable of consuming the large seeds.
