ATP is the abbreviation of adenosine triphosphate. its a nucleotide that contains large amount of energy stored in its high energy phosphate bond. this energy is released by the break down of phosphate bond along the conversion of ATP into ADP. this energy is used for the metabolic processes. ATP is produced by cellular respiration in the mitochondria.
