How do scientists organize the major events of Earth's history?

    Answer: They divide it on eons.

    Explanation:

    They can see it from geologic strata and the fossil record. Major volcanic events altering the Earth's environment and causing extinctions may have occurred 10 times in the past 3 billion years. Different eons have different animal and plant life. (eg. trilobites)
