    The electrons are shared among monomers.

    Explanation:

    In the dehydration reaction, the hydrogen ions are combined with OH. Thus forming water molecule.

    In hydrolysis reaction, it is opposite of dehydration reaction. The water molecule is involved in the reactant rather released as a product in dehydration reaction.
