Gray seed color in peas is dominant to white. Assume that Mendel conducted a series of experiments where plants with gray seeds were crossed among themselves, and the following progeny were produced: 302 gray and 98 white. What is the most probable genotype of each parent?

    Explanation:

    Let "G" represents gary seed color peas while "g" represents white seed color peas.

    also "G" is dominant over "g"

    The ratio of gray vs white offspring is

    302:98

    If this simplifies, it becomes

    3:1

    Thus, there are 3 times gray peas as compared to the white one.

    Now as per Mendel's rule,

    the genotype of 3 three gray peas would be GG, Gg and Gg

    So the genotype of parent would be

    Gg x Gg
