    Explanation:

    The cellular respiration is the pathway of the production of the energy molecules from various sources like carbohydrate, amino acids and the fatty acids.

    The most common source of oxidation is glucose which on subsequent oxidation through glycolysis will form the 2 Pyruvate molecules. This pyruvate is converted to two acetyl CoA which enters the citric acid cycle and generates the energy molecules in the form of reducing equivalents called NADH and FADH₂. These FADH₂ and NADH produces energy molecules through chemiosmosis in the form of ATP molecules.

    The ATP molecules formed through NADH depends on the generation of protons. 1 NADH leads to the production of the 3 ATP molecules therefore, 6 NADH will form 18 ATP molecules.

    Thus, 18 ATP molecules are the correct answer.
