How is blood flow related to lung function during exercise?

    Circulatory system and respiratory system work together during exercise.

    When the air enters in the lungs and then, into the alveoli, the capillaries that surround the alveoli allow O2 to enter the bloodstream while they discard CO2 from the bloodstream. When this oxygen-rich blood travels in the pulmonary vein to the heart, the heart pumps this blood into the aorta. The aorta is then, in charge of delivering oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body. When exercise increases, the circulatory system works harder to deliver oxygen-rich blood to all parts of the body (this oxygen is needed in order for the cells to perform cellular respiration that will release the energy that is being needed in the muscle cells). When r. respiration is done, carbon dioxide is released into the bloodstream as a by-product of respiration. CO2 becomes toxic for the body when it remains long time within the body. In order to discard this toxic CO2, oxygen-poor blood carrying CO2 travels through the veins to the right upper ventricle in the heart, then, the heart pumps this oxygen-poor blood to the lungs through the pulmonary artery. CO2 is discarded and O2 is newly taken back into the bloodstream.
