A hurricane warning is posted.

The Hurricane warnings are usually issued when a hurricane is expected as opposed to Hurricane watch which is issued in case of possible conditions of a hurricane. The reason to issue such warnings well ahead is that once the winds attain tropical storm force, hurricane preparedness actions become tough.
