    Incentives can be positive or negative is the answer which best describes incentives. Whereas positive incentives are praise and rewards, negative incentives are threats and punishment.

    Positive incentives refers to the incentive that created from making people pursue a certain pleasure or reward. (such as providing discount at the store on a certain date)

    Negative incentives on the other hand, is created from making people avoid a certain punishment/negative circumstances. (such as offering no insurance if consumers are late in making credit payment)
