If managers frequently use experience and intuition to make complex, non-programmed decisions, how do they apply evidence-based management (which seems to suggest that managers should rely on facts and data) ?

As the managers are human beings so it is the possibility that they can't make valid and reliable decisions all the times, sometimes they use their intuition and gut feelings to make certain complex and difficult decisions but they can't rely and depend upon this method all the times. They should be using combination and mixture of their intuition plus evidence based information in order to make more reliable and correct decisions. Undoubtedly, with the passage of time, managers become more experienced i handling the complex situations and can use their heuristics and gut feelings but it can be wrong sometimes as well. Sometimes, when have to we have to do some fast recalling then we can use our heuristics but when we have to make complex strategic decisions then we must go for using certain tools and valid data as well. For example, which new products should be launched in US market and which products should be harvested and taken off from the selves, we are required to have facts and figures in front of us in order to make right, accurate and more valid decision.
