    A data-island wold have a limited conection with the rest of the system. This the information would not be synchronize between eachother. This lead to a data may have different value depending onthe system. (Liek if tech support take the number of the customer but, legal department, they have another number to call to check for the warrany) Data island make impractical to add or change the data in the system.
