The second step in the communication planning process is to determine the purpose of the message. The first step is two clarify the objects and to establish them. After you know what they are, the purpose of the message has to align with them. The reason you need to figure out the purpose of the message is so you can identify your target audience for the message. After the target audience for the message is determined, you can then proceed with writing the message, figuring out how to send the message and the language used to speak to the audience it was intended for.
