Despite the fact that stainless steel is much denser than water the stainless steel razor blade can be made to float on water. Why?

    A double-edged stainless steel can float on water. Without surface tension, the blade would sink because its weight is greater than its buoyant surface.

    Answer: The blade doesn't sink because of the surface tension of the water.

    The stainless steel razor blade can be made to float on water:

    The double edge stainless steel can float over the water surface just because it has an amount of surface tension. As the water exerts some force, F in response to the weight placed on its surface. Which makes the object floating on the surface of the water medium.

    There are a number of elements found across the globe, each of the element has its own weight and acts differently when it interacts with the water medium. As some of them have greater density in there body being heavy, while others are light.

    If we define the buoyancy in more simple words, Then each medium will exert a force, F having some magnitude in it which will uplift the body submerged in it. If the body covers some area on the surface of the water medium then it will be lifter by the water molecules with an equal force, F.
