Does the burning of coal produce flame as the burning of wood does

    Yes they do have the same flame

    Explanation:

    Wood, coal and other solid fuels burn with a flame initially because in the beginning there is ample amount of fuel to undergo a fairly efficient combustion reaction there. As more fuel gets burned, there is not much fuel left for an efficient combustion reaction to take place.
