Now he is Emily's father-in-law and cannot prevent her death ... In Act I, Dr. Gibbs said his part in the birth of twins was "easy as kittens." Now he is Emily's father-in - law and cannot prevent her death. Explain the irony here.

    Emily's father at first says that it is easy taking care of her but later on he can't save her life
