    You can add new words to your vocabulary by: (1) listening, (2) reading, (3) using a dictionary, (4) saying the word, (5) using the word, and (6) maintaining the word and keeping it active.

    A word isn't really yours until you've used it in everyday speech. When it comes naturally in your speech, it will slip into your writing naturally, too.
