Research Paper: During his leadership of the Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-56, King developed and refined his style of leadership and his guiding principles for achieving change through nonviolent protest. 3 By the end of the boycott, King had established himself not only as a leader of the civil rights movement, but also as a moral authority on the national and even the global level.
