A puppy requires time to train because, like most animals/humans, if they are to learn anything, it's over a period of time. For example, take a human child - that child will not learn how to speak in a matter of days, no, but in a matter of months or maybe even a year. Though, yes, you cannot train a dog to speak, puppies won't learn to sit, stay, or be potty trained in a matter of days - it takes time.
