Tom tolerates her company and, at a certain moment, even shows some concern for Jordan.
Explanation:
Tom Buchanan and Jordan Baker are characters in the novel "The Great Gatsby", by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The story is told in a first-person perspective by Nick. Tom is married to Nick's cousin Daisy, and Jordan is a friend of hers.
Jordan is a golf player who seems to live comfortably under Tom and Daisy's roof. The couple being very wealthy, Jordan doesn't seem to be concerned about staying at their place for too long, living at their expense. She accepts the fact that Tom cheats on his wife, and seems to enjoy the drama. Jordan does not show any sign of moral beliefs or regrets when it comes to putting up with her friends' absurd behavior. She seems to think it ok for rich people to do whatever they want, even if it hurts others in the process.
That seems to be the reason why Tom tolerates her endless stay at their home and has a light fondness for her. He does not feel judged by Jordan. If anything, she keeps his wife entertained while he sees his mistress. In Chapter 1, Tom even expresses some concern for Jordan:
"Good night," called Miss Baker from the stairs. "I haven't heard a word."
"She's a nice girl," said Tom after a moment. "They oughtn't to let her run around the country this way."
"Who oughtn't to?" inquired Daisy coldly.
"Her family."
"Her family is one aunt about a thousand years old. besides, Nick's going to look after her, aren't you, Nick? She's going to spend lots of week-ends out here this summer. I think the home influence will be very good for her."
