What does frederick mean by "mr. covey's forte consisted in his power to deceive"?

    Frederick meant that it was rather easy for Mr. Covey to deceive people. It was almost like it was something that had been practiced and mastered, like a skill. He was able to perform the deceptions without having to worry that his schemes were going to be found out.
