If you count only the time zones which are in the intervals of full hour, it's 24, but the actual number of the different time zones on Earth is 40. Many time Zones are not full hours separated from other time zones, for example, India is in the time zone of UTC+5hrs 30 mins and Nepal is its own time zone: UTC+5hrs 45 mins
