Crater lake was formed when a volcanic eruption blew a hole at the top of the mountain. After hundreds of years the crater filled with rainwater and made a 2,000 foot deep semi-heated lake.

It is formed by explosion-blowing off the top of the volcanic cone, when volcanic is over a wider depression is formed called caldera. when this depression fill with water it is called crater
