In Japan, the local political units depend on the national government for organization, policy direction, and finances, which provides consistency throughout the country. What kind of government does Japan have?

    Japan has the following type of government: a constitutional monarchy. In the constitutional monrachy the power of the Emperor is limited (ceremonial duties). The branches of the Government are: Executive, Legislative and Judical. The rest of the government's power have these branches. In this type of monarchy a monarch acts as head of state within written parameters.
