What events led to the writing of the bill of rights

    British abuses in the Americas caused the young US to want to have a list of prohibited acts that the new government could not carry out against it's citizens. For example, the British army could be marching somewhere in the colonies and at nightfall, they could occupy your house to sleep, eat your food and there wasn't anything you could do about it.
