    The "three-legged stool" was a conservative movement. Each leg represents anticommunism, free-market economics, and religious traditionalism. Economic conservatives favored limited government and free markets and Religious traditionalists demanded strong government action to implement their faith-based agenda. Anticommunism ties into both of these.
