How would living in the city amongst the people she was serving inform Jane Addams social reform platforms?

It gave her the opportunity to see the types of preambles that lower and middle class citizens deal with on a day-to-day basis. it gave her the chance to see some of the contrast between the classes of America at that time and how to adjust her policies to actually serve the masses and not just the upper class citizens while the rest suffer.
