Feudalism is the mode of production and a political system were a feudal lord owns a tract of land, and serfs have to offer their manual labor to the lord in return for use of land of their own. Under this system, serfs also had to pay taxes to their feudal lords according to how much their plot was worth, and whatever goods they produced, they could exchange for other goods they needed on the lord's manor. Generally speaking, serfs could not be bought and sold, as they were not legally the propierty of the lords, but were instead tied to the land they worked.
