The 1800s is called as the gilded age because of the fact that the big industries were favored by the government. Also, the laws to control the big industries were very weak. At his age, the big business tried to suppress the labor rights and labor voice by using the government laws. On the other hand, the workers and labor always demanded higher wages, lesser working hours and raised voice against the child labor. In such condition, the government sided with the big industries and business.
