In 1718, the first civilian settlement was established in Texas.

    Explanation:

In 1492, the arrival of Columbus in America resulted at the beginning of Spanish colonization. They started to occupy many places such as half part of South America, a lot of Central America and some North America.

In 1519, Spain missionaries reached the San Antonio and claimed for the ownership of taxes territory. But the Native Americans refused the Spanish Invasion in their homeland, and they returned to Mexico leaving Texas for the following two decades.

Later in 1716 the Spanish returned back to Texas and established several missionaries. Since the French colonized those areas and Spanish tried to create a buffer between French and Spanish territory. In 1718, the Spanish finally established its first settlement in Texas.
