What happened after British soldiers killed five colonists in the Boston Massacre? The townspeople started throwing things at them. The soldiers were tried and punished severely. The soldiers were tried, and all but two were freed. The townspeople decided not to punish the soldiers.

    After the British soldiers killed five colonists in the Boston Massacre, the soldiers were tried, and all but two were freed. The massacre took place in a confrontation between locals and the British Army on March 5, 1770. After the incident, future American president John Adams, assumed the defense of the accused, who were charged with murder. The outcome of the trial was to exonerate six of the soldiers and to convict two of the other men of manslaughter, even though, they received a reduced sentence.
