After world war 2 there was the rise of African nationalism to fight for independence and the decolonization of African countries. The war trained African ex-soldiers leadership skills and military knowledge which they utilized when fighting for their freedom. The war further changed the perception of Africans towards the Europeans whom they previously viewed as superior, insurmountable and unable to be defeated. However, after the war this perception changed when African noticed that the Europeans would bleed and die. Nationalism was further fostered by the rise of African nationalist leaders who led their countries in the struggle fro independence i. e., Kwameh Nkruma (Ghana) and Jomo Kenyatta (Kenya).
