Who was Alexander the Great and what did he achieve?

He was the a king of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia and a member of the Argead dynasty, and his achievement was he quickly dealt with his enemies at home and reasserted Macedonian power within Greece. He then set out to conquer the massive Persian Empire.
