During the 1950s, the US participated in the Korean War. This connected soldiers to Korean women leading to marriages. These marriages allowed for Koreans to come to the US.

Korean immigration to the US began following the 1950s. The immigrants were almost always from South Korea. These immigrant patterns began after US contact with Koreans during the Korean War. Men met women there and this led to marriages. Once the wife moved to the US, other members of her family would sometimes follow contributing to the Korean immigration to the US.
