    The US economy can be classified as mixed economy. It had characteristics of both Capitalism and socialism. In a mixed economy there is freedom in the use of capital and government can also intervene in economic activities. The government intervention is meant for public good. During course of history, in some periods, the US economy came closer to Free market economy. The mixed economic system contains the elements of both free market and centrally planned economy. In this the government can also used tax and subsidy for changing the prices in the market. In US government have partial control over the economy with regulatory restrictions.
