The fugitive slave act cause alot of people to examine how they left about slavery, and forced many of them to make a moral decision regarding this issue. it cause a number of otherwise law-abiding citizens to decide to break the law in the interest of a higher law : a moral imperative, if you, that led them to follow their consciences and disobey a law they felt to be unjust.
