"Exhaustible resources are scarce" - - that's the true statement.

An exhaustible resource is something that once consumed cannot be replaced. Fossil fuels are an example of exhaustible resources. I suppose one could argue against an exhaustible resource being "scarce" if it seems like there's a significant supply of it in the ground to be mined or drilled.

But scarcity is a relative term, and at the rate human societies today are consuming resources, the fact that such resources are limited and non-renewable means their ultimate quantities are limited. According to The World Counts, each year we remove and use an estimated 55 billion tons of exhaustible resources from the planet. The rate at which we are using up exhaustible resources has increased by 50% over what it was just three decades ago.
