Typical path a bill proceeds through the house of representatives?

In order for a bill to become a law, it has to go through a certain pass:

1 - The Bill is drafted:

This means that a member of the Congress would take information (input) from a stakeholder consultant and draft the Bill.

2 - The Bill is introduced:

This means that the member then presents the Bill to the House of Representatives of Senate. The Bill is then assigned to a certain number.

3 - The Bill is referred to committee:

The committees or committees of jurisdiction regarding the subject of the Bill will then take the Bill to look into it.

4 - The "Dear Colleague" letter is circulated:

The introducing member circulates this letter with the aim of getting a sponsor.

5 - The Bill is referred to Subcommittee:

Subcommittees have a narrow focus. Therefore, they receive the Bills from the committee in order to better investigate it.

6 - Subcommittee "Marks up" the Bill:

The subcommittee votes on the Bill. If accepted, the Bill is then referred to the full committee for consideration.

7 - Rules are set for consideration of the Bill:

These rules are set either by the House of Representatives or the Senate.

8 - The Bill is Debated and Voted Upon:

This occurs in line with the set rules

9 - The Bill Progresses to the Other Body of the Congress:

A "Companion Legislation" which is a bill that is identical or similar to the original bill is then introduced in the other body of Congress.

10 - The Bill is forwarded to the President:

The President can either sign the Bill (enacting it into law) or veto it and return it to the Congress.

11 - The Bill becomes a law.
