15. Why did the southern cotton industry have a hard time recovering after the Civil War? A. Clothes were no longer made out of cotton. B. Foreign competition drove the price of cotton down. C. Temperature changed so much that cotton couldn't be grown in the South. D. Cotton became too expensive to process.

    One main reason why the southern cotton industry had a hard time recovering after the Civil War was because "Foreigncompetition drove the price of cotton down," since there was no long er a domestic monopoly.
