They pushed the North Koreans back and this went beyond the 38th Parallel. They were warned that if they did China would intervene. As a result the Chinese launched a massive attack that took the allies by surprised and they were forced back. However the Chinese advanced slowed down and the allies countered but in the end it was a stalemate.
