The cold war event was from 1949 to 1991 so in that time period the last war between one of those nations was the war in Afghanistan which the soviets fought in the 80s. But the last event could have been the fall of the soviet union possibly if you would count that. But if you want the last event between both countries it would be the testing of nuclear weapons from one another in the 60s and 70s ...
