2 (1 + 5x) = 5 (2x - 1)
Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation. 2 (1 + 5x) = 5 (2x - 1) (2) (1) + (2) (5x) = (5) (2x) + (5) (-1) (Distribute) 2 + 10x = 10x + - 5 10x + 2 = 10x - 5
Step 2: Subtract 10x from both sides. 10x + 2 - 10x = 10x - 5 - 10x 2 = - 5
Step 3: Subtract 2 from both sides. 2-2 = - 5 - 2 0 = - 7
