    X+y = 50 pounds

    y = 50-x

    0.31x + 0.46y = 0.40·50

    0.31x + 0.46 (50-x) = 20

    0.31x - 0.46x + 0.46·50 = 20

    -0.15x = - 3

    x = 20 pounds of 31¢ flour

    y = 50-x = 30 pounds of 46¢ flour
