There are many ways to do this.
1. 12 * 26 = (10 + 2) * 26 = 260 + 52 = 312
2. 12*26 = (10*20) + 10 * (1*6 + 2*2) + (2*6) = 200 + 100 + 12 = 312
3. 12*26 = 4*3*26 = 4*78 = 2*156 = 312
4. 12*26 = 3*4*26 = 3*2*52 = 3*104 = 312
