The population in a 55-square-mile city, City A, is 44,000. A neighboring city, City B, measures 65 square miles and has 48,750 citizens. Determine which city has a greater population density and by what percentage it's population density is greater that the other city's. Round to t he nearest tenth.

    A] Population density is given by:

    [Total population]/[Area]

    PD for city A=44000/55=800 people per sq. mile

    PD for city B=48750/65=750 people per sq. mile

    Thus city A has a higher population density.

    b] by what percentage it's population density is greater that the other city's

    800-750=50

    50 / (800+750) = 0.0322~3.22%

    thus City A has higher population density by 3.22%
