    Solve for x - 3 (x+4) - 2=-6x+18

    1. Expand it

    x-3x-12-2=-6x+18

    2. Simplify

    -2x-14=-6x+18

    3. Add 14 to both sides, canceling out the - 14 on the left side

    -2x=-6x+18+14

    4. Simplify

    -2x=-6x+32

    5. Add 6x to both sides, canceling out the - 6x on the left side - 2x+6x=32

    6. Simplify

    4x=32

    7. Divide both sides by 4, cancelling out the 4 that is multiplying the x on the left side

    x = 32/4

    8. Simplify

    x=8

    The answer is x = 8
