A pen costs $2.09. It costs $0.45less than a marker. Ken paid for one pen and one maker with a five-dollar bill. Use a tape diagram with calculation to determine him change.

    Answer is 1.27 because 2.09 - 0.45 = 1.64 (because we are trying to forget out how much the marker cost) and 1.64 + 2.09 = 3.73 (to see how much it will be in total) and well 5 - 3.73 = 1.64 (to see the change they will give him)
