    To find the x-intercept, set y=0 to get x-0=4 = > x=4 as the x-intercept.

    Similarly,

    To find the y-intercept, set x=0 to get 0-y=4 = > y=-4 as the y-intercept.

This works for all linear equations in two unknowns.
