Ms. Leong owned an ice cream store and had chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream for sale. She sold ¾ of the chocolate ice cream and ½ of the vanilla ice cream. If, at the end of the day, she had 20 scoops of chocolate ice cream and 30 scoops of vanilla ice cream left, what is the total number of scoops of ice cream Ms. Leong had at the start of the day?

    So, if Ms. Leong had x scoops of vanilla ice cream before she sold any, and she sold 1/2 of the ice cream and had 30 scoops left, she had an original 60 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Same with chocalate, y scoops, sold 3/4, and has 20 scoops of chocalate left, then she had original 80 scoops. 60+80=140

    So, 140 scoops of icecream total.
