Dom has enough tins of paint to cover a total surface of 280m squared. He needs to paint a community hall with an area to be painted of 255m squared. Calculate the percentage of paint that should be left over. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.

    where;

    Total surface area of paint available = 280 m²

    Surface area to paint community hall=255 m²

    Remainder=x

    Replacing;

    280=255+x

    x=280-255

    Percentage of paint to be left over = (Remainder/Total) * 100

    (25/280) * 100=8.929

    8.929 to 1 decimal place=8.9%
