Y and x have a proportional relationship, and y = 25 when x = 60.

What is the value of x when y = 30?

    This equation can be solved by using y = kx.

    Since y = 25 when x = 60,

    25 = 60k and if we solve for k then k = 5/12.

    That means the equation we're using is

    y = (5/12) x.

    Plug in y = 30 and you get

    30 = (5/12) x

    Solve for x

    30 * (12/5) = x

    360/5 = x

    x = 72
